    A quote that inspires me
“The world is before you and you need not take it or leave it as it was when you came in.”  James Baldwin
    Hobbies
Reading, swimming, biking; experiencing life again with my grandchildren.
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Blake changed my thinking about thinking in 10th grade English when he gave me a choice for an essay prompt; no teacher had ever asked me what I cared about before this moment.
I think all of my students should read…
the classics; as James Baldwin wisely states, “You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read.”
What advice or words of wisdom would you offer to students?
If this is true: “American History is longer, larger, more various, more beautiful, and more terrible than anything anyone has ever said about it,” (James Baldwin), than it is our shared purpose to read extensively, to ask every question we hold in our hearts, and to put this knowledge to use for the greater good of all.
    Who is/are your hero(es)?
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Pope Francis
