SJHA Debate Club

The SJHA Debate Club is a club for anyone who enjoys debating hot button topics while exploring a range of different views. We engage in formal team debates, research, and analyze debate strategy. Debate club will help you improve your public speaking, argumentation skills, teamwork, and confidence. It will also improve the quality and pace of your reasoning. All SJHA students are welcome!

Dollars for Scholars

Greetings young scholars! During our meetings we discuss and learn about applying to scholarships, summer programs, and we learn about what life is like on different college campuses. Meetings are held every Tuesday from 2:30-3:00.

Social Justice Humanitas Academy (SJHA) ASB Leadership

ASB practices leadership through service. All students enrolled in SJHA are eligible for membership. Leadership students benefit from leadership through service in multiple ways:

  • Break free from peer pressure and influence others in positive ways.
  • Experience greater empathy and minimize bullying among students.
  • Embrace a growth mindset that values hard work and resilience.
  • Capitalize on personal strengths to be career-ready upon graduation.
  • Develop critical thinking skills that produce better life choices, such as choosing healthy friends, improving study habits and setting both academic and community involvement goals.

Teens United

Teens United is run by representatives from CSUN’s Strength United. Teens United is dedicated to the elimination of sexual and interpersonal violence through healing, empowerment, and increased public awareness of prevention strategies. This club meets every Wednesday from 4pm-6pm in Room D112.

Imagine Green

Imagine Green is an on campus environmental club co-facilitated by Pacoima Beautiful. The club meets once a week, where students learn about environmental issues in their community and participate in civic engagement opportunities. Additionally, they plan school wide Earth Day events, learn from guest speakers, and are advocates for environmental and social justice on campus. Club meets every Tuesday in room 308 from 3:45-4:45.

PRIDE  Club

The PRIDE Club creates a space that affirms queer identity. We watch queer film, discuss healthy relationships, challenge heteronormativity with our very existence, and show each other love. Allies are welcome. Contact Ms. Plascencia if you are interested in attending.

Art Club

Art Club is a place for artist and art enthusiasts to come together to share ideas and create collaborative projects to beautify our lives and our school. Art Club meets Wednesday during lunch and after school in Rm# D212

EduCare Clubs

Fitness Club

Students engage in various fitness techniques to enhance their physical fitness. Club meets Monday-Friday in the Weight Room from 3:30 – 5:30.

Sign Language Club

Students will go through a basic sign language course. They will learn about ASL culture as well as how to have a basic conversation in the ASL language. Club Meets in the EduCare Office (Room B-104) every Wednesday from 3:45 – 5:00.

Film/Story Board Club

Students learn how to capture events utilizing photos and video. Students will learn how to develop a storyline using photos and video. Club Meets in the EduCare Office (Room B-104) every Monday from 4:00 – 6:00.

Take Action Campaign Club

Students develop leadership skills by developing events to raise awareness about pertinent issues in their community. Club Meets in the EduCare Office (Room B-104) every Thursday from 4:00 – 5:30.
