Welcome Incoming Class of 2027

Hello Humanitas Families!

Welcome to our school family! We are excited to get to know you all over the next four years. It will go by so fast.

First, if you have not turned in your enrollment packet, please do that as soon as possible – preferably before the first day of school on August 7th. Packets were mailed out at the end of May, but you can also pick them up in our office.

School starts at 8:30 on Monday, August 7th. Students can arrive as early as 7:45a.

Students can be dropped off directly in front of the school on Arroyo. The line to drop off can get pretty long after 8:15a. I advise you to drop them off earlier than 8:15a or to be patient. Please do not double park or have them cross away from the crosswalks. We also ask that you not enter the parking lots of the companies around the school as this is private property.

Pickup also happens at the front of the school. Pickup can also be crowded so please be patient and watch for other students as you drive. Classes end at 3:28p Monday-Thursday and at 2:04p on Friday. 9th grade students will be in the EduCare ACE program until 3:30 from Wednesday 8/9 to Friday 8/11.

If your students did not come to the last day of Summer Bridge they need to attend 9th Grade Orientation on Thursday 8/3. Advisory classes will be posted in the SJHA quad on the first day of school and students will get their class schedules in Advisory Class that morning.

During that first class your students will receive an SJHA lanyard. Please make sure that they bring this every day. They can wear it around their neck or hanging from a pocket or backpack. It must be connected to them and visible. This helps us keep the school as safe as possible. They will also be given a photo ID that they need to have with them every day.

Most teachers will ask that your students have a 100+ page, 8.5×11 spiral notebook for their classes. Otherwise, teachers will let students know during the first week what other supplies they will need for class. If your family needs support with getting these supplies please have your students talk to their teachers or counselor and we will help them out.

Every Friday I will send out an automated message with important information. The computer uses whatever information we have to send those messages – you can receive a phone call, email, text message, or all three. You can change your information through the Parent Portal or by coming into our office and updating the Emergency Card.

CCLA’s first home Football game is on Friday August 18th. SJHA will host a Family Day fundraiser with food for sale and games for families on Saturday August 19th. Back to School Night will be held on Monday August 28th starting at 5:30 in our MPR. You can park in the school parking lot and enter through the door at the corner by Arroyo.

If you ever have a question about what is happening at the school, are concerned about your student, or even want to share something positive about a staff member here, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can call the office at 818-838-3915, email the office at info@sjhumanitas.org, or email the principal (English or Spanish) at afernandez@sjhumanitas.org

Again, we are excited to have you join the Humanitas family.
